I Am From Poem

I am From…

By Timo N.

I am from my bed, like a zombie from the dead

From iMacs and Selmer Saxophones

I am from the classroom

The lefsa

I am from the cedar, always in my view

The grass whose green blade was so nice to cut

I’m from travels and weirdos

From Ken and Gail

I’m from non-communication and moving

And from eating well

I’m from answers and YOU ARE AWESOME to Ole Svenson

I’m from summers in Minnesota

I’m from San Diego and Noraway

From meatballs and bread

From my grandma in a far away land

And a bathroom

A wavy quilt, a piece of art

On the wall, for all to see

MLIA (My Life Is Awesome) Week: 1 The Little Things

This week, I had a mild cold. I took cough drops every night. Now, I had a bad cough and took a drop late at night. I threw the wrapper in the general direction of my trash can. I heard it hit something. I hate to assume things, because I am usually wrong.
This time was different. I decided to tell myself that it had gone in the can. This made me quite happy with this small, but nice, accomplishment. In the morning, I checked the floor and nothing was there. I had made the shot in the dark!

Later this week, I was cleaning my bathroom and needed to throw a paper towel away. Me being my lazy old self, I did not want to move from the precarious position on the counter. I threw the towel behind myself, and to the side toward the trash. It went in! I was so happy that I got up and gave myself a high-five in the mirror.

These are the things that made my life awesome. What made your life awesome? Post it in the comments.

My pets

I have two cats named Mojo and Jumper. They are quite lazy and sleep all day. We got them when they were both tiny kittens of the same litter. They grew up in California and then moved to Texas when we did.
This is jumper:

As you can see, they are incredibly hard to tell apart. It took me a full day to figure out how to tell them apart, but it took my dad almost 4 years! They keep me good company when I’m at home alone. They are the best pets I have had in my entire life, which is not much.

Beowulf

For English class, we are required to read the novel Beowulf. Personally I think the book is quite interesting. I haven’t found the underlying theme yet, but there are some hints to it.
If you haven’t read it, you should get the one by Robert Nye. It’s a lot shorter and more to-the-point kind of writing. The time period is very unclear to me.
