Week 4 and 5: Media And A Memory

“NERF N-Strike Recon CS-6 (2009 Commercial).” YouTube. YouTube, 23 Oct. 2011. Web. 11 Apr. 2014. .

This was my favorite toy when I was little. The Nerf Recon CS-6 was the most customizable, highest power,  and good-looking Nerf gun I could get my hands on. On Christmas morning, I can see myself walking down to the spot where I could expect a nice, new toy just for me. I saw it, and my only dream of that time came true. The gun that I had shot at my friend’s house, and immediately fell in love with it, was mine.

It had both a removable stock and barrel, plus a laser sight for pin-point accuracy. The gun had six shots in it, allowing me to shoot for an almost endless time. Later, I got an extra clip to add to the time needed to empty it before starting the process of finding and reloading the darts into the gun- an activity that I both loved and hated at the same time.

I loved this toy more than the commercial above can capture. My Nerf wars were never complete without it as soon as I got it. I remember spending hours on end shooting, reloading, and hiding from my friends in our seemingly epic battles. Somewhere in my storage I still have it- plus a bucket full of darts(considerably more than when I got it) and even more guns for my friends who weren’t as fortunate to own one of the most fun toys that may have ever existed.

Here is the full gun that I have pulled out of storage just for this occasion:

This toy will be forever immortalized in my heart as the fist dream-toy that I ever got and still have to this day.

Five Facts: Me!

Now I know that this might not be the best Five Facts Fact Person(FFFP for short) to pick, but heck, why not?

1. First, I love computer games. I especially like the ones where I can choose my fate or unleash my creativity. Games with linear story lines are fun and all, but they just don’t get me in that must-do-the-most-ambitious-thing-ever-that-I-will-never-get-done state of mind.

2. Second, l really enjoy a good book and perhaps the movie version too. I get engrossed in these fictional worlds and never-ever want to get out. They engage me for one reason: I relate to the characters in some sort of way. I can go on a frenzy where, in the space of a month, I read most or all of a sires.

3. Third, science is cool! I think that the discovering new things is right up my alley. I like science class, I just don’t always agree with the teaching styles. If we did more things that were even slightly relevant, I could see the point in all the worksheets, but do they really improve my understanding of science?

4. Fourth, I find playing my saxophone both relaxing and stressful. My activities in both symphonic and jazz band take up a large amount of time, but for a great reason. I you were to give me any saxophone, mouthpiece, and reed, I could play it well enough. My favorite sax is the Bari.

5. Fifth, I like being at home. My parents don’t understand it, but then again, they aren’t at school for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
My house is where I can be me. The sad truth about it is; I spend so much time doing homework, that I feel that I hardly get to enjoy it. Home where I do the things that I like, which include film making, reading, playing, and most of all; just being extremely lazy.

Hopefully you found an interesting thing about me that you can relate to. (I know all sax players can relate to me)

I Am From Poem

I am From…

By Timo N.

I am from my bed, like a zombie from the dead

From iMacs and Selmer Saxophones

I am from the classroom

The lefsa

I am from the cedar, always in my view

The grass whose green blade was so nice to cut

I’m from travels and weirdos

From Ken and Gail

I’m from non-communication and moving

And from eating well

I’m from answers and YOU ARE AWESOME to Ole Svenson

I’m from summers in Minnesota

I’m from San Diego and Noraway

From meatballs and bread

From my grandma in a far away land

And a bathroom

A wavy quilt, a piece of art

On the wall, for all to see

My pets

I have two cats named Mojo and Jumper. They are quite lazy and sleep all day. We got them when they were both tiny kittens of the same litter. They grew up in California and then moved to Texas when we did.
This is jumper:

As you can see, they are incredibly hard to tell apart. It took me a full day to figure out how to tell them apart, but it took my dad almost 4 years! They keep me good company when I’m at home alone. They are the best pets I have had in my entire life, which is not much.
