Five Facts: Gimli!

Time to find out more things about the people of Middle Earth! This time we learn about Gimli, a great dwarf and a friend to a elf.
Gimli is my favorite dwarf of all times.

1. Gimli was going to go on the quest for Erebor, but Thorin decided against it because he, being only in his sixties, was too young to go. Speaking of the quest of Erebor, Gimli is the son of Gloin and a relative of Óin, Balin, and Dwalin. I think the dwarves are very closely related.

2. The main reason Gimli joined the Fellowship is that Legolas joined and Gimli doubted his intentions. Funny thing, Legolas and Gimli became best friends!

3. During the battle of Helm’s deep, Gimli was forced into the Glittering Caves. After the war, he became the lord of them and led some of Durin’s folk to make a new dwarven colony.

4. Gimli is the only dwarf to sail to the west to the undying lands. Toliken wrote that this would be very strange for a dwarf to go to an elf land.

5. Gimli uses two axes, both having a long staff in which they could have used as a walking stick. After the Moria Incident, he used Balin’s double-edged axe, but only in the book was it mentioned.

Fun Fact: In the game Terraria, Gimli is one name a demolitionist can spawn with

Five Facts: Me!

Now I know that this might not be the best Five Facts Fact Person(FFFP for short) to pick, but heck, why not?

1. First, I love computer games. I especially like the ones where I can choose my fate or unleash my creativity. Games with linear story lines are fun and all, but they just don’t get me in that must-do-the-most-ambitious-thing-ever-that-I-will-never-get-done state of mind.

2. Second, l really enjoy a good book and perhaps the movie version too. I get engrossed in these fictional worlds and never-ever want to get out. They engage me for one reason: I relate to the characters in some sort of way. I can go on a frenzy where, in the space of a month, I read most or all of a sires.

3. Third, science is cool! I think that the discovering new things is right up my alley. I like science class, I just don’t always agree with the teaching styles. If we did more things that were even slightly relevant, I could see the point in all the worksheets, but do they really improve my understanding of science?

4. Fourth, I find playing my saxophone both relaxing and stressful. My activities in both symphonic and jazz band take up a large amount of time, but for a great reason. I you were to give me any saxophone, mouthpiece, and reed, I could play it well enough. My favorite sax is the Bari.

5. Fifth, I like being at home. My parents don’t understand it, but then again, they aren’t at school for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
My house is where I can be me. The sad truth about it is; I spend so much time doing homework, that I feel that I hardly get to enjoy it. Home where I do the things that I like, which include film making, reading, playing, and most of all; just being extremely lazy.

Hopefully you found an interesting thing about me that you can relate to. (I know all sax players can relate to me)

Five Facts: Sauron

To prove that I am a total nerd, and LOTR fan, I am going to show five facts about the dark lord Sauron.
1. Sauron is 9ft 10in tall in the prelude to the Fellowship of the Ring movie.
2. He is from the first age, so he should have been about six Thousand years old, give or take a few hundred, at the time of his death.
3. Originally, he was neutral but then was turned evil by the previous Dark Lord Morgoth.
4. At the end of the second age, he had assumed the titles King of Men and Lord of the Earth.
If any of you have seen the Hobbit film, you will recognize this:
5. Sauron took shape of the Necromancer from the years TA (third age) 1050 to TA 2941.
